Dock Builders on Johns Island, SC

Johns Island docks run out over the marsh to the Stono River, Bohicket Creek and the creeks in between. As dock builders on Johns Island, SC, we build new docks, fix old ones and add floats and lifts where the permit allows.

City or County?

Both the City of Charleston and Charleston County cover parts of Johns Island. Most of the development on the island is inside city limits, and Cane Slash Road is one of the lines between the two. Your address decides which office you deal with.

  • Charleston County. The County wants a zoning permit before it'll issue a building permit, and it wants the critical line on your survey approved and signed within the last five years.
  • Private docks and local permits. Check with the City of Charleston or Charleston County, depending on your address.

Walkway length

Out here the walkway has to reach the first navigable creek, however far that is, and walkway length is one of the biggest things behind the price. Two 2026 state notices on Johns Island show the range. One was a 176-foot timber walkway with handrails to a partly covered pierhead, a 30-foot gangway down to a floating dock, and a 6-pile boat lift off the downstream side. The other was a 36-foot walkway to a small pierhead, a ramp and a float. Dock Construction →
