Dock Builders in Folly Beach, SC

On Folly Beach, docks are on the river side: the Folly River and the marsh behind the island. As dock builders in Folly Beach, SC, we build and repair docks, floats, lifts and marsh-side bulkheads. If you've been to Folly River Park on Center Street, where people fish and crab off the end of the community dock, that's the water we mean.

Folly Beach rules to know

  • City permits. The City of Folly Beach requires building permits for all new construction, remodeling and repairs, and docks, retaining walls and seawalls are on that list. So a dock repair here needs a City permit too, not just a new build. Building: 843-588-2447.
  • The state permit. Docks and bulkheads over the marsh also need the SCDES critical area permit.
  • No new oceanfront seawalls. State law doesn't allow new seawalls on the ocean beach. Our seawall and bulkhead work on Folly is river and marsh side only.

Storms

Hurricane Idalia cut off access to Folly Beach in 2023. After Irma, cleanup crews went after floating docks stuck in the marsh near the island. Back in 1989, Hugo's storm tide reached 11.9 feet at Folly. If a storm's hit your dock, take photos first, then call. Dock Repair →
